Picking Up Crumbs of the Colonial Era
The colonial era is perhaps one of the most inexhaustible sources of inspiration for contemporary fiction. From year to year, the Indonesian literature keeps delivering works with themes from the said era. Looking a little bit further, this is to say nothing of the works of “mooi indie” in the Netherlands, which seem to churn out surprise after surprise. On this occasion, we ask Bonnie Triyana and Iksaka Banu to share their views on the intersection and mutual reinforcement between the colonial history and literary works of it.
